This is the fourth level of our five-level French Language Diploma Program, focusing on all four basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing). Classes meet once weekly for three hours, for two 13-week semesters. Entrance at midpoint in January is possible if your initial level is sufficient. Small classes (maximum 18) enhance individual participation. Classes feature a balance of structural and communicative activities and an important cultural content to optimize learning.
This course will focus on all the structures, vocabulary and pronunciation necessary to perform tasks such as:
express a range of emotions and sentiments make hypotheses, in the past and the present
articulate past events using the whole range of past tenses speak about abstract themes and ideas
discuss current events and controversial become familiar with French journalistic style
make oral presentations about a topic of particular interest
Mandatory initial level assessment to enter the program at that level, or
Successful completion of FLDP300 if starting in September or of the fall term of FLDP400 if starting in January.

A communicative grammar book (En avant la grammaire!) is mandatory in levels four and five. The tuition fee includes a subscription to L’Actualité for the duration of the course.

A full refund will be provided if you withdraw from the course prior to the start date. A refund, less a $50 administrative fee, will be issued if you withdraw during the first two weeks from the start date. No refunds after two weeks. Depending on your method of payment, a refund will be either mailed to you or credited to your credit card.
