Victoria–Campbell River–Quadra Island–Campbell River
We depart Victoria by coach this morning for Campbell River. Upon arrival we visit the Campbell River Museum, then travel by ferry to Cape Mudge (Quadra Island) to visit the Nuyubalees Cultural Centre, including a salmon barbecue lunch. Return to Campbell River for overnight. (L)
Campbell River–Port McNeill–Alert Bay–Port Hardy
This morning we drive to Port McNeill and transfer by ferry to Alert Bay, where we have a visit and guided tour of U’Mista Cultural Centre. After touring the island with a First Nations guide, we catch the ferry back to Port McNeill, and then continue by coach to Port Hardy for overnight. (B)
Port Hardy–Prince Rupert
Today we are up early to catch the 7:30 am ferry that will take us through the beautiful Inside Passage to Prince Rupert. A buffet breakfast will be served on board the ship. Overnight in Prince Rupert. (B)
After breakfast we drive to Hazelton, visiting the Gitxsan villages of Kitwanga and Kispiox to view poles en route. Overnight in Hazelton. (B)
This morning we transfer by coach to villages around Hazelton with a First Nations guide, then to the ‘Ksan Historical Village and Cultural Interpretive Centre for a welcome and tour. Depart in the afternoon for Gitanyow en route to Terrace, where we spend two nights. (B)
Today we head north to visit the new Nisga’a Museum at Laxgalts'ap in the Nass Valley. (B)
Late morning departure, returning to Prince Rupert. This afternoon we visit the Museum of Northern BC. (B)
Prince Rupert–Skidegate–Queen Charlotte City
Today we catch the 10 am ferry to Skidegate, Haida Gwaii, arriving at 5 pm. Transfer to Queen Charlotte City, where we stay for two nights. (B)
Queen Charlotte City–Skidegate–Queen Charlotte City
Today we visit Haida Gwaii Museum and Haida Heritage Centre and carving sheds studios to view Haida art, including works by Bill Reid. We then visit studios and galleries in Skidegate. (B)
Queen Charlotte City–Masset
Depart for Masset this morning, stopping en route In Tlell. Upon arrival, we will visit studios of three artists: Reg Davidson; Donny Edenshaw; and Christian White. Overnight in Masset. This evening we enjoy an aboriginal Haida meal and dance performance with Christian White. (B/D)
Masset–Queen Charlotte City
Free time this morning to walk along the unbroken, pristine beaches of Naikoon Provincial Park. In the afternoon we make our way back to Queen Charlotte City. This evening we have a group dinner in Skidegate. (B/D)
Queen Charlotte City–Skedans–Sandspit
This morning we catch the ferry to Alliford Bay and drive to Moresby Camp. Here we travel by zodiacs to the abandoned Haida village of Skedans to experience and study the designs and construction of the old totem poles and other artifacts. If weather is good, we will attempt to go to Tanu for a brief visit. Return to Moresby Camp and then to Sandspit for overnight. (B/BL)
Transfer to Sandspit Airport this morning for our flight to Victoria, via Vancouver. (B)
