Using Particle Physics to Understand the Universe

Course description

Particle physics allows us to understand nature at its most fundamental level, whereas astrophysics allows us to understand nature at its very largest scales. How do these two fields overlap? What has astrophysics learned from particle physics, and vice-versa? And what are some present-day contentions and open questions, at the boundaries of these two fields? I will discuss these questions, with a focus on some of the big open problems, with examples being the natures of dark matter and of dark energy, at the boundary of the two fields.
