This presentation by the co-author of an instructional website on the Franklin Expedition (The Franklin Mystery: Life & Death in the Arctic) will cover a range of topics raised by the original expedition and the century and a half of searches for evidence of the ships and crew. The presentation will cover:

  • rationale for the expedition
  • summary of expedition events
  • summary of subsequent searches
  • role of Inuit people, then and now
  • ownership claims, then and now
  • research and politics, then and now
