Dementia is not a natural part of aging. It is an umbrella term that encompasses over one hundred neurodegenerative diseases that affect memory, judgment, and cognitive skills severely enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and comprises nearly seventy percent of cases. To date there is no cure and there are no disease-modifying treatments available.
