Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times - Part Two

Course description

Seneca’s Letters to Lucilius offer advice to his friend Lucilius, and to us modern readers, on how to apply philosophical wisdom to the problems of life. In this 6 week seminar, you will explore Letters 9-19, and discuss topics such as friendship, aging, anxiety, exercise, conformity, Stoic and Epicurean philosophy. This course is a follow-up to Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times which was offered in the spring of 2017 and covered Seneca’s first eight letters. This course is open to new students as well as those who took the first offering. It is not necessary to have attended the first offering.
