The Human Immune System

COURSE

Course description

Until recently, the initial stages of immune system development were unknown. With novel experimental systems and advanced technologies, scientists have now uncovered the first clues to how immunity develops, opening the way to exciting future discoveries. Session 1 will examine how the immune system develops as well as examine possible future research directions in immune system development.

Session 2 will focus on the underlying causes of age-associated changes in immune function and potential therapeutic targets that may slow the aging process. Therapeutic strategies, including candidate drugs, most of which are still in experimental development, and potential dietary practices will be discussed.
