Years as a CA: 1990-1991

Current role: Sociocultural Program Manager

Working as a Monitor (Cultural Assistant) was the beginning of my 30 year relationship with the English Language Centre at UVic.  Since that time, I worked as a Head Monitor, Program Assistant (Homestay and Short-Term Programs) and now the Program Manager with Socio-Cultural. This means that now, instead of working directly with our ELC students, I am hiring over 60 Cultural Assistants every summer to work with our students!

During my time at the English Language Centre, I met and married Tanna Boucher (who was also a Monitor and Head Monitor with the Osaka Aoyama Junior College program).  We now have a 15-year-old son and daughters who are 13 and 11 as well as our 9-year old beagle.  After living briefly in Toronto, Ontario and Halifax, Nova Scotia, we are happy to call Victoria home.
