Years as a CA: 2013-2019

Current role: International Marketing and Recruitment Assistant

I became a Cultural Assistant in 2013 after hearing about the job from a friend who was a CA at the time. I had always been interested in other cultures and studying languages, and thought that being a CA would be the perfect job for me while I was finishing my studies at UVic. I’m so happy that I decided to apply because it was such a rewarding job, and I made so many friends from all over the world. It was through working as a CA that I discovered how amazing the ELC was, so I decided to stay! While working as a CA, I started managing the ELC’s social media in fall 2018, and this eventually led to my current role as the International Marketing and Recruitment Assistant.

I am so glad that I am able to continue working at the ELC in my new capacity, and grateful that being a CA provided me with so many professional development opportunities within the ELC. The ELC is an amazing community, and I look forward to working here for many more years. I’m very proud to be a UVic and ELC employee, and have definitely found a home here.
