"I took a leave of absence from my job to study English. My general English class had a focus on the speaking and listening, so I have took part in lots of presentations almost every week. I had the opportunity to talk with native speakers including UVic students in the ELC Learning Centre every day. I received great benefit and experience from my time at the Uvic ELC, so I totally recommend ESL courses at the English Language Centre."
What's it like living in Victoria?
If I were to describe Victoria in one word, I would say peaceful. Victoria is one of the most quiet, relaxed, and cozy places in Canada, and that means it’s a good place for studying. Of course, Victoria has an amazing landscape, and it’s near to Seattle and Vancouver, so I could spend time there too.
Best advice for new students
I recommend that you study about Canadian history, culture, and information before coming. That knowledge will be good for talking with native Canadians, and you will be able to understand their conversations easily.
