Program description

In as little as eight months, you can enhance your university education and/or professional experience with English language and business administration training that will set you apart in today’s competitive job market.

In this unique combination of programs, you will:

  • Obtain an advanced level of English through the UVic English Language Centre
  • Earn a Certificate in Business Administration (CBA) alongside Canadian students
  • Advance your business studies further by completing additional courses in order to earn a valuable Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) in 16 months.

Accommodation options

We offer Homestay accommodation for the 12-week Intensive English program, and strongly encourage our students to get to know Canadian culture and the Victoria by living with a homestay family.  During your business program, you may choose to continue living in homestay or you can arrange your own private accommodation.

Step 01: Advanced English

Each day in class, you will enjoy the support of two teachers who work together to help develop your English skills through challenging projects, activities and discussions. As an English student you’ll learn English, explore Victoria and enjoy new experiences on Canada’s West Coast.

Step 02: Certificate in Business Administration Fast-Track

This innovative, intensive 12-week program leads to an accredited Certificate in Business Administration (CBA) from the University of Victoria. Application information

Registration requirements

  • English: In order to register for the program in the outlined schedule, you should have an advanced English level, approximately equivalent to IELTS 5.0 or higher.  You will be tested and placed in the appropriate English class when you arrive.  If you are placed at a lower level this will lengthen your overall study time to complete the Certificate and Diploma in Business Administration.
  • Education/work experience: Due to the intensive nature of the program, a minimum of two years post-secondary education or five years of work experience is required.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the University of Victoria's Certificate in Business Administration, you will successfully complete eight courses. In your first term in the Certificate in Business Administration (CBA) - Fast Track program, these courses are made of up a set curriculum of core business courses. When you register for the program you are automatically enrolled in your first intensive term of CBA courses.  If you continue your studies in the Diploma in Business Administration (DBA), you will be required to take an additional 6 courses to complete the Diploma.  You will be able to select 6 Diploma courses from specialized offerings in your second and third terms.

Application deadline

Students must apply two months prior to the start of the program to ensure placement in homestay accommodation.

  3. Pay the application fees and deposit(s)

Once we have processed the application, you well be sent two Letters of Acceptance. One for your English programs and one for your Business Diploma program.

Upon acceptance to the program, please apply for Medical Insurance and check to see if you need a study permit/visa to study in Canada.
