The demand for online learning has been increasing for years, but recent global events have created a sudden need for educators to move their face-to-face content online immediately. But, creating interactive and engaging e-learning content requires a different pedagological approach to traditional face-to-face teaching. The Online Pedagogy and Internationalization program empowers international educators with the knowledge and tools they need to quickly convert their face-to-face content to an effective online course that not only meets the needs of their existing students, but opens up a world of opportunity to bring that content to a broader global audience.

Program description

The Online Pedagogy and Internationalization program will provide you with the skills you need to teach an engaging and well-organized course online with internationalized curriculum. It will also prepare you to navigate online teaching environments with the ease and confidence with which you teach your face-to-face courses. This three-month non-credit online program provides the foundation of the theoretical concepts, methodologies and practical skills necessary to teach online in an international context.

Program features

By the end of the program, you will be familiar with:

  • methodology for teaching online (synchronous vs asynchronous, blended/flipped, best practices for teaching online)
  • internationalization of the curriculum theory
  • techniques for student-centred, accessible and active learning online
  • understanding diversity of culture and learning styles
  • various online tools for teaching, assessment and evaluation to maximize learning online
  • how to design and develop your own online learning modules
  • empowering learners to manage their own learning process

Program outcomes

  • Prepare an engaging and student-centred online course module
  • Demonstrate online teaching skills both in formative activities and in the summative assessment
  • Apply techniques to teach in an online learning environment with an internationalized curriculum
  • Create meaningful teaching activities
  • Develop task and situation-specific lesson plans and curriculum

Courses and fees

This program consists of a three-month non-credit online course that provides the foundation of the theoretical concepts, methodologies and practical skills necessary to teach online in an international context.

The next offering is running online from May 31 to Aug. 27, 2021. The model will be a hybrid of synchronous and asynchronous delivery with the synchronous sessions on Zoom once a week for 1.5 hours. Admission requirements

Participants must have English-language proficiency of 5.5 IELTS (general) or its equivalent.
