Are you currently nervous about teaching dance? Would you like to feel excited and well-prepared to teach dance to your middle and secondary students? Helping students feel comfortable and supported by their peers and their teacher is an important part of creating a great dance experience in PHE.
In this physically active workshop, you’ll learn how to incorporate easy-to-learn dance activities that promote relatedness among your students—having them feel better connected and more engaged with each other. You’ll learn new pair and group dance activities that emphasize problem-solving and working together and you’ll receive all resources used in the workshop so that you can easily implement the activities into your own PHE classes. Absolutely no dance experience required!
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe how participating in dance can be a source of relatedness for their students
Prepare for and lead a number of student-centered dance activities in their own schools
Adapt provided workshop materials and resources to meet the needs of their particular students
