This course focuses on the practical aspects of teaching adults online. You’ll learn how to apply adult teaching and learning principles to make your courses more meaningful and memorable.

Using online tools and strategies, you will create activities, content/curriculum, and projects that:

  • encourage participation
  • build community
  • engage learners

You will discuss the challenges you and others may face in teaching online and find ways to overcome them.

Learning objectives

  • Apply adult teaching and learning principles and concepts to teaching online.
  • Apply best practices for teaching and engaging learners in the online environment.
  • Identify primary / key features and capabilities of online technologies such as: learning management systems, discussion tools, blogs, wikis, e-portfolios, streaming media, mash-ups, etc. for supporting teaching online,
  • Make informed technology choices for teaching online based on adult teaching and learning principles.
  • Effectively use online technologies to teach, engage, and assess learners in the online environment.
