Re-Imagine Project-Based Learning

Part of: October Teacher Pro-D Day

Course description

Project-based learning is one of the principles of 21st century learning. By describing the evolution of a highly successful project, this case study demonstrates how secondary-level classroom teachers can implement projects that are:

  • technology-enhanced
  • inter-disciplinary
  • authentic

Using open-ended questions, paired discussions and videos, you will work with the outcome of the project (a collaborative book, written by Indigenous learners and community members) to enhance your ability to create a project-based learning activity.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Engage learners in a personalized project
  • Encourage parent and community participation
  • Improve literacy levels (reading, writing, interviewing, presenting, speaking, listening)
