The BC Science Curriculum is best enacted when it is collaborative and situated in a classroom culture that enhances learner outcomes (Pierce, 1994, Importance of Classroom Culture). Through story, hands-on activities, and curricular competencies, this workshop provides tools that teachers can use to enhance their teaching and create a positive science classroom culture.
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Be able to influence the design and environment of their elementary science classroom so it is conducive for science.
Have a variety of collaborative hands-on science experiences they can utilize in their classroom.
Improve their understanding of where science curriculum intersects with BC core competencies.
