CEFR and the Action-Oriented approach

Welcome to the French Immersion Workshop Series

Over the past 15 years, the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) has become a very important part of teaching and learning in all FSL and French Immersion programs across the country. In 2007, Dr. Larry Vandergrift recommended the adoption of this framework, as it would serve all of our second language programs and provide us with a consistent framework to describe language acquisition and language proficiency. He predicted that the framework would positively influence teaching practices. This workshop will provide teachers with an overview of the evolution of CEFR adoption and its action-oriented approach in Canada. What are the benefits? What are the challenges? Discover creative solutions for improving learner confidence and skills in line with the CEFR and the resources aligned with the CEFR. Explore differentiation, authentic learning, backward planning, the place of grammar and other key elements of the action-oriented approach.

Au cours des 15 dernières années, le CECR (Cadre européen commun référence) est devenu un élément très important de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage dans tous les programmes de FSL et d’immersion française à travers le pays. En 2007, Dr. Larry Vandergrift a recommandé que nous adoptions ce cadre, car il servirait tous nos programmes de langue seconde et nous fournirait un cadre uniforme pour décrire l’acquisition de la langue et la maitrise de la langue. Il a prédit que le cadre influencerait positivement les pratiques pédagogiques. Cet atelier offrira aux enseignants un aperçu de l’évolution de l’adoption du CECR et son approche actionnelle au Canada. Quels en sont les bénéfices? Quels sont les défis? Découvrez des solutions créatives pour améliorer la confiance et les compétences des apprenants conformément au CECR ainsi que les ressources alignées avec le CECR. Explorez la différenciation, les taches authentiques, la planification à rebours, la place de la grammaire et d’autre éléments clés de l’approche actionnelle.
