Course description
Available for 0.5 elective credit in the CACE program.
Offered face-to-face at UVic.
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an energizing approach for sparking positive organizational change and group development that is ideal in adult education classrooms, communities, workplaces or virtual spaces.
Unlike traditional problem-based tools and models that focus on what is not working well, AI focuses on what is working well (appreciative) by engaging you in asking questions and telling stories (inquiry). This shift in focus to the positive generates life within the organization/group, allowing it to move more effectively towards its goals.
Using the textbook Appreciative Inquiry in Higher Education: A Transformative Force, co-authored by your instructor, you will examine the theory behind AI, engage in the “5D” model (definition, discovery, dream, design and delivery), and explore ways to apply AI.
