Financial support for Business Administration students

The following two financial support options are available to Business Administration students:

Each term, the Division of Continuing Studies offers bursaries to assist learners in furthering their education. Bursaries are awarded to learners who can display evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning and who can demonstrate financial need. Applications are available online on the Continuing Studies Financial Support page.

One or more scholarships, of at least $1,000 each, are awarded to outstanding students in the Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) in the Division of Continuing Studies, with preference for students in the DBA Aviation Option.

Scholarship is merit-based and does not require application.

Background:

Jeremy (Ryan) Sunderland began his Diploma in Business Administration Aviation Program with Business and Management programs at the University of Victoria in the fall of 2002. He completed the program in March of 2003. Jeremy knew he had found his calling the first time he flew.

Jeremy was born in Calgary, Alberta and grew up in Tsawwassen, British Columbia.  On July 9, 2009, two days after his 28th birthday, Captain Jeremy Sunderland and his good friend First Officer Matthew Mills, flying a Canadian Air Charter flight “Blood Run” for the Canadian Blood Services, crashed on final approach to Vancouver International Airport. Jeremy and Matthew both died instantly.

In Jeremey’s honor his grandmother, Gayle Peddle, created the Jeremy Sunderland Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit academic achievement at the University of Victoria and, as a preference, demonstrated dedication to flight training at the Victoria Flying Club.
