From the comfort of your home, enjoy getting to know opera through five spectacular works. You will learn about the background of five different works of opera. You will compare the different stagings and listen to great singers bring each role to life. A variety of opera styles will be explored including Verdi’s Sicilian Vespers, Massenet’s Thaïs, and Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux. Two of the works we study will be broadcasted live in Cineplex Odeon Theatres from the Metropolitan opera: Cherubini’s Medea and a new telling of the Orpheus legend in Aucoin’s Eurydice. So dress up or dress down, and get ready to enjoy a night in at the opera.
