Business and Management Programs
Richard oversees a team of six staff individuals and over 40 instructors in the delivery of professional programs and individual courses to a wide range of learners, from recently graduated high school students to highly skilled professionals earning university and professional society accreditations as well as learners wishing to update their individual skills and education. Courses are offered in full time, part time, online, on campus, and intensive formats to Canadian and International learners.
Richard has previously been a management consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). His previous academic appointments include: Professor (15 years) and Director (9 years) of the internationally highly ranked Richard Ivey Business School at the Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario), Professor and a founding Director of the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University, Professor and Director at the Gustavson Business School and Professor in Public Administration at the University of Victoria. He has co-authored nine books with a tenth in progress, and has authored and/or supervised over 300 management cases through the Ivey Business School and professional societies. He has also consulted, developed, and delivered management and executive programs for clients worldwide. Richard is a co-founder of CEO Business Diagnostics, a consulting management development company.
He has been an officer and member of boards of directors at Carnarvon Park Baseball and the Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology & Entrepreneurship Council (VIATEC). Earlier in his career he was the Chair of the Omaha United Way Campaign’s Professional Division and chaired an award winning Ontario Chamber of Commerce “Entrepreneurial Funding Conference”. Richard’s practical experience, expertise in executive and management development and his entrepreneurial acumen makes him a sought after management consultant and a member of a number of Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees. He currently sits on a small number of Boards or Committees including the Victoria Harbour Cats Advisory Committee. Richard holds an MBA, CPA (US retired), and a BSBA.
